Hello! Hello!
It's a long story...but the short version is that I took a year leave of absence to travel with my family in our travel trailer! We covered most of the east coast and had some amazing experiences! So grateful for the opportunity and time with my family.
But...now we're back and I am getting ready to start my 16th year of teaching science. The big change is that I will now be teaching in a middle school instead of high school. Same district, just different level. I will be teaching 6th grade science which for us is mostly Earth Science! Yay!!
For my first post I mostly just wanted to let you know I'm back and will be updating with middle school experiences! I also wanted to share that I have started dabbling with Teachers pay teachers. I am new to it so I only have 3 activities posted for sale. Here is the link to my store if you want to check it out! I am hoping to add more as the year goes on! I am trying to just do small things and keep my prices very low. I'm not trying to earn a bunch of money doing it, it's more for fun and trying to work on my creativity with my lessons that I create!
I also wanted to share a link to a speaker who I heard recently who was really inspiring. It reminded me about why I started this blog in the first place...thinking about teaching reading/writing in science! Her name is Ruth Ayers. Here is her podcast, sticky hope. She taught middle school ELA, was an instructional coach, and now is the director of a professional development program. A big part of her work is her personal stories and she uses writing to work with students who have experienced trauma. She has a newsletter that you can subscribe to and get inspiring articles! It is called the Big fresh and is free to subscribe.
I'll be back in 2 weeks with a back to school update! In the meantime...stay cool and enjoy that last of the summer break!
